The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Dennis Perez.  Welcome to new members and guests.

 

TREASURER'S REPORT

Beginning balance        $4149.98

Income                            332.00

No expenses

Ending balance              4481.98

 

OLD BUSINESS

Reminder about the Dixie Biggs presentation on Saturday October 18. 2008 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Entry the day of the demo will be $35.00.  For an additional $70.00 members may take advantage of the Sunday session with a smaller group size.

 

John Jordan will be makeing a presentation on Saturday January 17, 2009 from 9:00am to 3:00pm, price to be determined.

 

The Quarterly contest will take place at the November meeting and will be a Christmas ornament.  Tonight's demo will be three methods of producing an ornament by Glenn Plockelmann.  It is requested that participants in the contest submit only one item and it is also requested that the members not pick up the items so as to avoid reading the name of the artist or possibly damaging the work.

 

Reminder that the Annual Roast/Turning Event will be held, as usual at Glenn Plockelmann's home on Saturday November 15th.  Members may bring lathes, tools, etc and all are reminded to bring a covered dish or dessert.

 

The Florida Woodturning Symposium will be held at Lake Yale from January 10-12, 2009.  You may go to the web site for more detailed information.  A scholarship selection committee has named the following to receive a scholarship to attend this coming symposium:

Reminder that AAW renewals are due by 12/31/08 in order to have your name included in the annual directory published by the AAW

 

Don't forget to be on the look out for suitable donations for the auction that is held every year at the Symposium.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Dues for the club are now due.  $20.00

 

Next month, the club will hold elections for the next year's officers.

 

December 3 meeting will be the annual Christmas dinner.  Bring a covered dish for the buffet and your gift if you are planning to participate in the ever fun Chinese auction.

 

Finally, Mark Kimball reminded everyone of the Woodcrafter's Club annual donation of toys during the Christmas season and for anyone wishing to donate their time, talents, or hand crafted wooden items to contact him.
