The meeting was called to order at 7:00p.m. July 02, 2008 by President Dennis Perez.  In addition to tonight's guest demonstrator, part of the evening would be devoted to honoring the Club's founding members complete with commemorative plaques, cake and a hardy round of appreciative applause and gratitude of the now, more than 90 members who have experienced the joys of turning and the continued learning process it represents.

A warm welcome was extended to our DEMO guest, Ron Sinquante (spelling?) and his wife Sally as well as to all those who visited our meeting this month.

Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.  The Treasurer's report indicated that to last month's balance of       $4665.41  a total of

183.00  was added as income and

-131.23  for expenditures was deducted leaving

                                                   $4717.18  as an ending balance

Thank you to the volunteers who helped with the set up and the clean up following the demonstration and meeting.

A revision to the rules for the lidded box contest were put forth.  There is no minimum size, however the maximum has been defined as 6" in height, 4 " in length or diameter and an additional 3" allowance for a finial .  Glenn Plockelmann will be giving the demonstration at next month's meeting in advance of the next quarterly contest which will feature the lidded box.

Pat passed around a card for Ted Gibson for anyone to send their good wishes during his recuperation.

A reminder that there will be a "hands on event"  Saturday July 12 here at the Lutz community center.  Lathes and wood will be provided.  BYOT (bring your own tools).  The time will be from 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m. and we will most likely take up a donation to order pizza.  Be sure and bring your own beverage and there will be a cooler with ice at the site.

Roy has asked members to start saving pull tabs from beverage cans for a once a year donation that he contributes to at a children's hospital.

REMINDER  The annual "Turning Event and BBQ" will be at Glenn's home and shop as usual on November 15th this year.  Mark your calendars and be thinking of your favorite covered dish or dessert.  It will begin around 1:00pm.  Map will be provided at a later date.

REMINDER  Bob Winter wants everyone to keep in mind that the auction at the annual Florida Woodturning Symposium in January generates funds for the educational endeavors that the Symposium sponsors each year.  Start reviewing your inventories and any items you donate could become the apple of a bidder's eye come January.

There are Rocky Mountain Woodturner pamphlets available.
